Cobija Weather, Bolivia

The seasons in the lowlands of the Amazon Basin are less pronounced than in other parts of Bolivia, and temperatures are high year-round. Heavy rain falls during the summer (Nov-Apr) in unrelenting downpours that fill the streets with mud and the sound of croaking frogs. Although winter is drier than summer, it also sees a good measure of the wet stuff. If you're unlucky you may experience the unpredictable surazo , a cold wind blowing from Patagonia and the Argentine pampas, which produces frost and a dramatic drop in temperature, even in the hottest parts of the jungle.

Uyuni Weather, Bolivia

Mention Uyuni to a Bolivian and they will whistle and emphasize 'harto frío' - extreme cold! Yes, harsh temperatures and chill winds characterize the southern Antiplano. Climatically, the best months to visit are August, September and October, after the worst of the winter chills and before the summer rains. From May to early July, night-time temperatures combined with stiff winds can lower the windchill temperature to -40°C (-40°F). Summer is warmer but, for an arid area, there's quite a lot of rainfall between November and March. At any time of year you'll need protection against sun, wind and cold.
